Mark Fidrych Videos

You'll love these Mark Fidrych videos. Mark Fidrych played five season with the Detroit Tigers. Really only one.

In 1976 he became a phenomenon. His unusual antics on the mound and his exuberance made him a fan favorite.

Mark won the American League Rookie Of The Year Award in 1976. He won 19 and lost 9 and had an earned run average of 2.34 which led the league.

In his 31 games that season, Mark Fidrych threw 24 complete games and struck out 97.

He finished second in the Cy Young voting that year.

In 1977, Mark tore the cartilage in his knee while goofing around during spring training. Later in 1977, he tore his rotator cuff.

He was never the same. He pitched his final Major League game on October 1, 1980 in Toronto. He gave up four earned runs in five innings but still got the win.

He officially retired at the end of the 1981 season.
