He finished with a .308 career batting average and was the National League's batting champ in 1955 and 1958. After the 1959 season, Richie was traded to the Cubs and in 1962 to the Mets. He became the first member of the Mets to be voted to the National League All Star team. Richie retired after the 1962 season to pursue a career in broadcasting. Richie Ashburn and Harry Kalas became one of the most well known broadcasting duo ever. Richie was finally inducted into Baseball's Hall Of Fame in 1995. Two years before his death.
